Your guide to using BODY IMAGE MANTRAS!!!

I have seen mantras and affirmations WORK WONDERS for body image healing for my clients time and time again! 

And today I am going to guide you in building your very own unique and powerful BODY IMAGE MANTRA!!

Have you ever heard of affirmations or mantras and thought…. “Yeah, I’m not doing that.” 🤣

Maybe you’re not into that woo woo stuff OR you love that woo woo stuff and mantras are still hard. 

Maybe you’ve tried to use an affirmation before, but didn’t feel like it was doing anything. 

I get it and I’ve been there! 

So, before we get started let’s set some ground rules because the KEY to actually making mantras successful and sustainable is using them correctly!!! (ANDDD this can look different for everyone). 

Here’s a few tips to make sure your affirmation will ACTUALLY HELP YOU: 👇 👇 👇 

Tip #1: Find the thing that is REALLY FREAKIN STRESSFUL about your body.

  1. Imagine for a moment that the dream body you want is no longer a possibility and you no longer actually have control over the size of your body. 

    1. Then ask yourself…. Why is this stressful or upsetting?

    2. Now… What’s a more loving perspective to take? THAT’S WHAT YOUR MANTRA SHOULD BE ABOUT!

      1. Your affirmation should really hit home on the underlying reason you’re struggling with your body.

Tip #2: Your mantra should deeply resonate with you and be realistic. 

    1. Do you HATE your body? Then your mantra definitely shouldn't be “I LOVE MY BODY!!” You’re just not going to believe that. So pick a mantra that’s somewhat believable, but still pushes you to take a step outside your zone of comfy beliefs. 

    2. You might not 100% believe your mantra and that’s ok, but the thought of believing it needs to be realistic and attainable for where you’re at right now.

My body does not define my self worth

Do you feel like you provide value to this world, to your workplace, your friend group, or your family because of your body? It’s easy to put all your self worth into your body when our society teaches you your body is the most important thing about you. In actuality, your aspirations, your impact, your personality, and who you actually are as a person… are the things that give you value. If this resonates DEEPLY with you, pick this affirmation! 

My body is the least interesting thing about me

Do you feel like your body is a really freakin important part of you and THE ONE thing others love about you the most? It’s time to remember that the most important thing about you is the person INSIDE the body, not the vessel. If this resonates DEEPLY with you, pick this affirmation! 

My body is not a representation of my choices

Do you feel like you’ve spent your whole life dieting and trying to lose weight only to feel like you’ve actually been slowly gaining weight and this is all your fault because you’ve failed at dieting and lack will power? It’s not your fault because dieting doesn’t work! If this resonates DEEPLY with you, pick this affirmation! 

My body is not my fault

Have you been told by someone else (maybe your parents, maybe society) that you’re a straight up failure for the size of your body? Maybe you can literally hear your moms voice in your head saying… “Don’t eat that, you’re going to get fat.” You don’t deserve that and your body is not your fault. If this resonates DEEPLY with you, pick this affirmation! 

My body is just a body

Do you feel like your body has a lot of MEANING to you? Like so much meaning that it’s the only thing that really brings you joy and happiness? 

Maybe you REALLY STRUGGLE with your body or even hate it? This mantra will help bring you closer to “body neutrality.” Meaning you’re not trying to like your body and you’re not trying to dislike it. It’s just simply neutral. If this resonates DEEPLY with you, pick this affirmation! 

How to use your mantra…. 

  1. When you’re straight up SPIRALING about your body, remember your mantra. Repeat it a few times in your mind. Use it to bring awareness to what you’re experiencing and remind yourself that where you’re at right now is ok. 

  2. Don’t just SAY IT,  FEEL IT. Allow yourself to drop in and FEEL what this mantra actually means to you. 

  3. Put it everywhere… Leave sticky notes around your house, write it on your mirror, make it your phone background, etc!!!

  4. Say it when you wake up in the morning and before bed. 

  5. Tattoo it on your body! 🤣🤣🤣
